ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO S.TERESA DI RIVA

HEALTHY FOOD EDUCATION  AT SCHOOL

Istituto Comprensivo di Santa Teresa di Riva organized  a conference on Health Food Education, inviting a dietist to make students aware of  the importance of  food  for a healthy  growing process of the young generation. According to this, the dietist talked about the Mediterranean diet which was the basic food style of the old generation living in South Italy, South France, Spain and Greece.
This diet has a range of  food such as vegetables, fruits, beans, lentils, peas, chickpeas, cereal grains, pasta, bread, olive oil, fish, meat that have been associated with good health.
Referring to it, the most important rules are:

  • eating plenty of starchy foods, such as bread and pasta
  • eating plenty of fruit and vegetables
  • eating some fish
  • eating less meat
  • choosing products made from vegetable and plant oils, such as olive oil

It's a good idea to try to get this balance right every day,
and you might find useful to follow these rules throughout our  life.
