The first year is almost over and we'd like to summarize our impressions on the first year of our project. Lots of activities have been carried out all through the year, we've experienced new friendships, new cultures and even new landscapes. all in all has greatly enriched our knowledge of some parts of Europe and we're delighted with the experience.
Here is a summary of some of the results. Enjoy!

Visit to Amposta,  Spain. December'15

A workshop on how to build a rocket.

This was an activity we carried on during the 1st Transnational Meeting of our project Let’s Save the Life on our Planet which was held in our town, Amposta.

The first topic in the project is The Universe and we wanted our students to think about all the different subthemes that are related to it, also how to travel to other planets, galaxies, etc.

All the materials used in the building of the rocket were recycled. Each group of students was given 2 or 3 litre plastic bottles, some stickers and colourful papers, scissors, glue and cardboard to build and decorate them as nicely and originally as possible.

Students’ feedback was very positive, they were not only surprised by the result of the activity but also enjoyed the experience of working together and sharing, negotiating and agreeing on their ideas to be able to build their group rocket.

Visit to the Observatory de l'Ebre

In our first visit of the project we took our partners to visit the Observatory de l'Ebre, a research institute nearby founded in 1904 in order to study meteorology and the relationship between the Earth and the Sun.

Cycling in the Ebre Delta

During the 1rst Transnational meeting in our project Let's save the Life on our Planet we visited the Natural Park of the Ebre delta which has recently been declared Biosphere Reserve by Unesco.
The Ebre Delta is one of the world’s areas  seriously threatened by climate change and as one of the goals of our project is to transmit the love and values of our natural areas,  the visit contributed greatly to the awareness of the problem and the different methods used to minimise its effects. 
We started cycling at the Casa de Fusta ( The wooden house) which is located in front of  the Encanyissada Lagoon. Students could do birdwatching by using telescopes so as they could identify the water birds with the pictures they had on the booklet they were given to follow the visit.
As a conclusion, cycling in the Delta was a unique and pleasant activity. The sunlight, the warmth, the smells, the water….everything was a gift to our senses.

Universe presentations

Students of all the different countries made their presentations on the Universe and the Solar system, as a way of raising awareness  among us of our place in the immensity of the universe and our role  and responsibility in keeping the delicate balance in our planet, the Earth.

Innovative teaching methods on science

Our science colleagues at school, Vicent Ramiro and Elena Miró, taught us a lesson on the topic of the Universe. Students worked in mixed groups and made their own presentations on the topic browsing different webpages and taking info from them. They were also taught how to use  a different presentation programme.  It was great fun for them to work  together for the first time with different nationalities.

'...The experience was greater than I expected, an unforgettable experience for everyone, I think. It's been beyond all my expectations. I wouldn't change anything of this first visit,  honestly. But I felt terribly sad 'cause I thought I was not going to see them anymore. ...' all the activities were carefully planned and it was great fun, although there were some explanations in English I didn't understand.
I didn't host anyone at my place but I got on well with everyone. With the Slovak students we could only speak English because our languages are so different. With the Italians it was easier to speak Catalan or Spanish to understand each other.
I'd love to continue in the project. It's been great fun and it will help me to improve my English, undoubtedly.' Clàudia Domingo.

'It was nice to see how we could communicate among us with so different languages and with no problem. Sometimes it was harder but we managed to understand. Personally, I didn't think we got on so well in such short time, but it was quite the opposite. I'm loving it and want to continue in the project.'  Victor Juan.

'I hosted one of the Italian girls, Margherita Cisca, she's so friendly, though she missed her family. We spoke in English and if there was something we didn't understand we used our mobile phones to look up a word or just show a picture...' Paula Roger.
